Flag of the
United States Of America
When America fought for its independence from Great Britain, a new nation in the new world needs a flag.
The Continental Congress on June 14, 1777 accepted and approved a design of 13 alternating stripes :
Red
White
And 13 stars in a blue field.
These 13 stripes and 13 stars,
Honored the 13 states that had joined together to form the United States of America.
After the USA expanded, more states were added to the Union.
To celebrate the Nation's growth, Congress decided that the flag should become a visible symbol of change and established that the American flag would have one star for every state.
This is why the design of the American flag has changed 27 times, due to the joining states to the Union.
After, Hawaii joined the Union on 1959, the flag had 50 stars
And 13 stripes, and this design of 13 stripes, will stay forever to honor the first 13 states as mentioned above.
The American flag is called the
( Star - Spangled Banner )
The stars and the stripes
The Red, White, and Blue
And Old Glory.
To emphasize the importance of the American flag to the Nation and it's people, Congress established June 14 of each year as ( Flag Day )
Always we should remember in this great country, that we have to take special notice to any event that reflect on its meaning !!
